Business Thrives at Liverton Park
The recent opening of Carpet Right at Exmouth's Liverton Business Park marks the final stage of the out of town development which began in the early 1990's.
The national carpet chain is the latest in a number of high profile stores that have chosen to locate at Liverton Business Park, which is owned and managed by Clinton Devon Estates. It is also home to fifteen smaller, local businesses.
John Bain, Land Agent for Clinton Devon Estates said; "When Liverton opened the first big national name to move here was B&Q. Since then, and despite two recessions, the site has grown steadily, attracting national chains such as McDonalds, Pets at Home, Halfords, Topps Tiles, Plumb Centre and Homemaker as well as a large number of local businesses.
"The secret of Liverton's success is that it has grown organically to meet both the retail and commercial needs of the population of Exmouth. It's a well-run, well-managed site with a very high standard of maintenance which is attractive to both the customers and the businesses themselves."
John Bain added; "It also means that Exmouth's population of over 35,000, which increases considerably during the holiday months, doesn't have to travel the 10 miles to Exeter to get a really good choice of shops and services."
Out of the16 smaller units at Liverton Business Park, only one is currently available to let.
"The fact that the site is virtually at capacity, even during this recession, is a sure sign that it's meeting the needs of the local community and local businesses too," explained John Bain.
"At Clinton Devon Estates, we are very keen to support local companies by offering short term lets, flexible terms and a good working environment. We find it gives businesses the confidence to move forward," he added.
Clinton Devon Estates is currently promoting an extension of the Park and has started the consultation process with the local planning authority.
"We hope that the prospect of further development will provide a welcome boost to the local economy and ultimately create valuable employment opportunities," said John Bain.
As well as Liverton Business Park, Clinton Devon Estates, owns and runs South Court Farm near Budleigh Salterton offering business units created from a Victorian Model Farm complex. Dotton Business Units between Colaton Raleigh and Newton Poppleford offers seven light industrial units and The Old Sawmills at Colaton Raleigh offers 12 units.
