Clinton Devon Estates appoints equestrian Helen West as Arena Manager at Bicton Arena

Clinton Devon Estates has announced the appointment of Helen West as the Arena Manager at Bicton Arena in East Devon.

The well-known south west professional event rider who has previously run her own competition yard at Ipplepen near Newton Abbot, will head-up the Bicton Arena team 26 years after first competing there as a seven year old.

Helen's passion for horses and competing began at Pony Club level where she enjoyed success in Working Hunter Pony classes. She went on to represent the UK in Pony Dressage and, at the age of 12, became the youngest rider ever to compete at Prix St Georges level.  Since then, Helen has competed at some of the UK's leading equestrian venues including Bramham, Blenheim, Burghley, Chatsworth and Windsor.

Commenting on her appointment, Helen said: "I have spent my life around horses and travelled the length and breadth of the country competing and running my own yard. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to do something I love in a place I love.  The facilities here are excellent and I'd encourage people to come along and take part in our exciting calendar of events this summer or just come and watch the competitions and soak in the atmosphere."

Leigh Rix, Head of Property and Land at Clinton Devon Estates said: "Helen brings a wealth of experience to Bicton Arena and we look forward to working closely with her to provide the very best equestrian facilities, events and training for riders and competitors in the south west and beyond."

Bicton Arena at East Budleigh is set within Grade One listed parkland, offering a cross country course with over 100 jumps, two all-weather ménages, providing year round facilities for schooling and dressage, six grass show rings, stabling for 116 horses and a facilities block.
