Overview
Across the Estate around 10 miles of permissive paths have been established, along with 1,100 acres of forestry, for over 25 years. The public was granted access to all seven of the commons on the East Devon Heaths owned by the Estate in 1930, by the 21st Baron Clinton.
The Estate takes a progressive attitude to public access and today the 2,800 acres East Devon Pebblebed Heaths have been brought under the control of the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000. The Estate has created many new footpaths linking current ones to form circular walks and 90% of Estate woodlands in East Devon are open to the public.
Signs in all of the East Devon Heaths car parks and at the main access points outline the important information that the public needs to be aware of before entering the heathland. www.pebblebedheaths.org.uk
